For those of you concerned about the 3 key access points that connect our hood to the new MUHC Heres what I wrote to Russell; Dear Russell Copeman Residents and merchants next to the MUHC would like to see an innovative and creative urban plan for the area adjacent to the new MUHC. The latest city plan dates back to 2007 (see powerpoint) and does not address this area. Given the rapid changes we are facing, this requires immediate attention. This area was also brought up during the recent public consultation by the OCPM. The next plan should include all 3 access points to the MUHC from St. Raymond (included in the original traffic plans in 2005 and the QVAS in 2010) 1.St. Jacques and Girouard 2. Upper Lachine and Girouard 3. Upper Lachine and Crowley Residents have been waiting for a visual concept for the area framed by these 3 access points since 2007. This particular area was removed from the original plan for the Quartier Vert pour NDG sud-ouest (Mobilogo and Montreal Urban Ecology Centre) Mr. Applebaum apparently insisted that it be removed from the plan since there were too many unknown variables at the time in 2010. Unfortunately, residents and merchants missed a golden opportunity to benefit from some valuable urban planning expertise. Well, it is now 2014 and the hospital is almost complete, the bridge is about to be built and were still waiting for a comprehensive plan that addresses pedestrian safety, speeding traffic and air quality in our small community. Im certain that you, your team of urban planners and landscape architects would appreciate valid input from those of us who live and work here. Many of us have volunteered our time and effort by attending a plethora of meetings, mobilizing residents and preparing presentations with viable solutions and mitigating measures. Please have a look at the attached powerpoint as one example.. When would you be available to discuss this matter further? Sincerely Jill Prescesky
