For those of you who are new to the page, heres a bit of an intro to tell you what were all about. (Reposted from earlier post) Whats with all the un? You are probably familiar with the term unschooling. It is a style of home education wherein the student learns independently without the oversight, restrictions or compulsory nature of the institution we call school. It is not that unschoolers dont want and strive for an education, its we do it independent of the contemporary education establishment. Unjobbing. We still work. Weve no aversion to supporting ourselves or to participating in the economy. We simply choose to support ourselves via work that interests us as individuals. We reject the common establishmentarian idea that you must have a 9 to 5 corporate office career in order to be successful. We argue that the measure of success in work is whether you are happy doing it. Unstated means that as much as possible, we get along without the state. It means that we ignore unjust laws, and that we dont rely on government programs for subsistence. We keep our kids out of public schools and we never, ever say the pledge of allegiance. We govern ourselves. Unstating is the anarchists compromise with modern civilization. We acknowledge that people are not ready or willing to try a stateless society yet, and rather than attempt to force it on them, we live as close to our ideals of peaceful, voluntary cooperation as possible. Perhaps some folks will be inspired by our example.
