For those who may appreciate, here are a couple of quotations from Stephen Kinzers THE BROTHERS: John Foster Dulles, Allen Dulles and Their Secret War: If we perish, [Reinhold] Niebuhr warned, the ruthlessness of the foe would be only the secondary cause of the disaster. The primary cause would be that the strength of a great nation was directed by eyes too blind to see all the hazards of the struggle, and the blindness would be induced not by some accident of nature or history, but by hatred and vainglory. (p. 85) Churchill agreed. After one of their meetings he remarked, Foster Dulles is the only case I know of a bull who carries his own china shop around with him. (p.201)
