For those with experience with the Benik belt: From Summer: My 17 month old has had a mic-key for quite a while. The button is being pulled and stretched all the time due to tummy time and simply from him constantly grabbing and pulling at it (even through his clothes). As a result, the site leaks often and is very irritated (it looks like theres a lot of granulation tissue, but it doesnt respond to silver nitrate). Weve tried putting socks on his hands, but he figured out that he could still grab it, and toy distraction no longer works. We recently tried putting an ace bandage on him and 2 out of the 3 times we tried it, it ended up scooting down and stretching the tube downward as well. Would a Benik belt be worth the investment (insurance will not cover it, we already tried), or is the belt likely to behave like the ace bandage and cause more problems than it solves? Do you guys have any other suggestions? Thank you!
