Weather Situation A low pressure system to the south of the state will move further away overnight with a ridge to move past Tasmania in the early morning. The ridge will merge with an area of high pressure centred near New Zealand during the day, as a deep low pressure area remains centred south of Western Australia, directing a mild northwest to northerly airflow across Tasmania. This pattern will persist on Sunday before a weakening cold front crosses the state at night. A high pressure ridge should then become established over northern Bass Strait on Monday.
