Forgiveness I have seen men and women, including myself in the past, who have been harmed or wronged in a relationship, go onto destroy every other relationship that crosses their path. Because of those previous unkempt wounds we become tied to that one relationship through multiple people in our future. Same relationship, different faces. Even when something or someone good comes along we literally cannot see it or accept it because of our own bitterness, hurt, unforgiveness, and/or anger that has completely blinded us. All we are capable of seeing is through those jaded lenses that are of a skewed perception and corruption of the past. We become utterly incapable of perceiving reality due to being stuck in that previous wound thus leaving us in a constant state of delusion producing the same effects in each and every relationship. Jesus said As a man thinks in his heart so is he When we leave wounds and unforgiveness undone we transfer those erroneous feelings onto others because of our own thoughts and feelings linked to unforgiveness. To see through the correct lense and not carry bitter judgements from one relationship to the next, we have to heal and forgive. This even includes forgiving ourselves. Many times we do not realize when we are disappointed and resentful towards ourselves. When we search our hearts many times after such a pain staking event, we can also find we may have unforgiveness towards God. Forgiveness is key to healing and advancing past these kind of trials. Once we do forgive and heal, we can see so much more clearly, even to the point of the trial propelling us higher and blessing future relationships because of what we have walked through. The Lord literally gives us the treasures that lie hidden in the darkness and is then capable of turning every evil for our good because of being called according to His purpose of forgiving. When we stay in a state of unforgiveness it is like beating the same tormenting drum over and over in our minds and hearts. Then it begins to play out in our lives like a very bad dream completely out of our control. We get stuck in a perpetual cycle of chaotic relationships, or we alienate the good ones from ourselves, not realizing that we hold the very keys to our own breakthrough.
