Free speech was for the purpose of not stifling ideas, so that the government and groups of people could not regulate the free exchange and debate of thoughts so that we may be bettered as a people. But the intent of that right has been corrupted to include all sorts of things. One of the worst, in my opinion, is speech such as racist and other forms of hate speech. Yes, the letter of the law says that is ok, and that is the dark, ugly price of our freedom to speak our minds. All freedom has a dark ugly price somewhere. But now its held up as an example of a good thing, a patriotic thing, a heroic thing, to make as vile an insult as one can. Instead of celebrating people who disrespect others only for the purpose of being crude and disrespectful because its fun and they are allowed to, we should be ashamed to have such heartless, crude, hate ravaged people in the midst of us. And should we agree with them...then God judge us all by that same measure.
