Freelance Editor in a firm in Lagos Full-time Industry Advertising / Media Specialization Media/Journalism, Minimum Qualification HND Required Experience 7 - 10 years Application Deadline 2013-07-30 A magazine publishing company which is the leader in its subject area, and wishes to continue expanding the vision of the magazine seeks to employ a Freelance Editor. Responsibilities: • Overseeing the layout, appearance and content of feature articles and cover design; • Generating ideas for features with writing staff; • Commissioning articles from freelance and in-house writers; • Managing writing staff and freelance feature writers & graphic artists; • Editing and re-writing articles, some of which may be rejected or returned to the writer for revision; • Writing articles • Overseeing artwork, design and photography for the features section of the magazine as well as the cover; • Selecting feature articles for each issue; • Sending out briefs to writers which can include word count, deadline, fee and writing style; • Proofreading all pages before going to press; • Raising the profile of the magazine; • Networking with others at industry events; • Assisting other staff to meet their deadlines. Qualifications and Requirements: • Minimum of HND/B.Sc. in any related discipline • Minimum of 7 - 10 years’ experience • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills • Must have extensive experience in editing a magazine To apply, send your email to [email protected].
