Fri, Jan 9, 2014 - Why Deadlift (or Train) with Resistance Bands? Resistance bands have been used as a source of producing tension in training for a long time. Rehab specialists and doctors have been utilizing this tool a lot in the past and is now a staple within the #bodybuilding and #crossfit community. One problem with regular lifting is that the load doesnt change during the movement. For example, when you lift a heavy box (constant load) off the floor, as you get it off the floor it gets easier once you get closer to the top. This isnt surprising but what it means is that the constant load will not provide the same impact when you were picking it up from the bottom versus how it feels as you gradually go up. If youre an athlete or someone looking to build muscle, this is an obvious problem because you will only be using 1/2 of the rep to stimulate muscle growth while the other half doesnt do much. By combining free-weights (initial load) + resistance bands at the same time, you can overload the WHOLE range of motion since the bands will increase resistance as they get stretched (towards the end of the load). Thus, the whole movement becomes effective at stimulating muscle growth. #eccentricacceleration
