Friday Night, January 16, 2015, About 11:35 p.m.: I am an uncompromising advocate of people getting shots against flu and other preventable illnesses. I constantly promote the page, Vaccinate Your Baby, a generally solidly reputable site. I also constantly publicly fight the idiotic superstitious enemies of modern medicine, including the superstitious enemies of vaccines and vaccinations and inoculations. I consider them no different from Nazis or from the Ku Klux Klan. In my view, both incite murder of innocents. But when I hear that the current flu vaccine is only 23% effective against the current strain of flu going around, I get royally pissed off at the profiteering capitalist private-for-profit drug company owners. These bloodsucking capitalist pigs could have made not one, but any number of, vaccines to address different strains of the flu virus. Its criminally insane they didnt. Im an old guy. Its very young people - kids and infants - and old people who have immune systems that are more compromised than the immune systems of other people. This means when I hear that the current flu vaccine which I got in a shot back in October of 2014 is only 23% effective against the current flu virus, I get royally pissed and angry and enraged. In a socialist-inspired workers government, medicine would be free to all at the point of delivery. Vaccinations would be free to all, and compulsory, because this is a public health issue, not a question of individual civil liberties, and your right to throw your goddamned fist ends where my nose starts; by the same token, your right to walk around carrying a goddamned virus you picked up because you greedily and selfishly didnt get the shot stops where my body starts. But also in a socialist workers government, all drug companies would have been confiscated and made socialist property of the masses of the people, and science and medicine would be conducted in the public interest, not in the interests of private profits. This means objective need of the people would dictate the production of vaccines, not what some ignorant short-sighted idiots in corporate boardrooms of profiteering companies thought would be the right strain of flu virus to deal with each year. It means whatever strains might be out there would have vaccines made to address them, period. It wouldnt be decided on the basis of private profit. It would be decided on the basis of the needs of the people. Thats why Im pissed and enraged right now. I got my shot. But Im learning now its only 23% effective. By the way, I dont want some superstitious anti-vaccination asshole commenting on this post and trying to exploit what Ive written to promote your anti-vaccination superstitious hysteria. Do that, and I boot you from my page. The point of my post is, to demonstrate yet again how rotten capitalism is, and why we need a socialist revolution and free quality health care for all in this country so the peoples medical needs will be met conditional on their needs, not on whats profitable for some f*cking greedheaded private-for-profit mis-named health care capitalists. --Allan Greene, 01-16-2015
