Friday evening Harlan got a surprise visit from his daddy. It was great having Jonathan here, especially after getting unexpected bad news. The trip had already been planned prior. Daddy stayed until Sunday, when he had to fly home for work. Harlan had a great visit but hated to see his daddy go, as did I. Today was Harlans 9th radiation treatment. His hair is falling out in pretty big chunks. Tomorrow we will be shaving his head. We took today to talk about Harlans upcoming haircut in hopes it would better prepare him to look like daddy. Harlans back and neck are starting to show signs of radiation burn. We are trying to keep it well moisturized and hoping we can stay ahead of it and keep it from potentially becoming open sores; we are no where near those right now. Last night Harlan cried and whined in his sleep a lot. I feared that he was having some head pain due to swelling. Today his RO checked him and said there was no swelling. We are thankful for this as we would like to stay away from steroids as long as possible. Thank you to all of you that have sent cards, pictures and packages. Harlan has gotten everything from singing cards, matchbox cars, stickers, play dough to pictures of old cars, tractors and peoples pets! Mail time is this childs highlight of the day! Words can not express how much it means to him and how much it means to me to see his face light up. Thank you! Tomorrow we get into the double digits of treatment... - Jacki
