Friday morning grandpa went down to breakfast did his usual flirting with the nurses, ate his favorite meal of the day and shortly after suffered a catastrophic stroke. We were notified while attending Michaels 6th grade promotion and made the tough decision about telling Miss Bailey the news on her big day. If you follow my posts at all you know that she and Grandpa have a very special relationship. She may have been his most frequent visitor and became a bit of a celebrity at Kit Carson. We had to tell her and give her the opportunity to say goodbye at the ER. Although he has not been conscious since the stroke he is still hanging on, no chance for recovery but his heart wont give up the fight. I have been reminded of the strength of the human spirit in the past 3 days. I have also been reminded of how fortunate I am to be surrounded by such amazing friends. The nurses here are wonderful and Hospice is helping us while we are in the hospital I did not realize they offered that service. I promise to remember them with a donation in the future. I am sharing all of this with you now because I am afraid that I have seen most of you either at graduation or the graduation party and failed to be gracious or that you may think Im really, really not handling the graduation of Miss Bay well. I promise when I can to post pics and share with you the highlights of graduation day. In the meantime, please pray for my grandpas comfort and strength for this family to get through this emotional time.
