Fringe Show #11 The Bunker Trilogy: Agamemnon Intense, immersive, visceral! Staged in the claustrophobic confines of a bunker amongst the trench warfare of World War I Europe. Like the Festivals Roman Tragedies, the audience is right in there with the performers. While spared the smell of cordite the dirt floor and the benches, which by the way were more comfortable than the seats in the Queens Theatre this past week, made the experience very real. An intense back and forth between the present, past, and possible future plays out over the performance. The extreme proximity enables you to see the blood, the soot, the sweat on the actors faces, so close at times you could literally reach out and wipe it away. That same proximity enables you to watch the glances between the performers as if you were a part of the action. The acting is crisp, precise, and has real passion. Despite its ancient origins and historical setting the story is unfortunately as compelling and relevant today as it ever was. I havent seen the other shows in the trilogy, and unfortunately my dance card is already full, but if you can, do go and see The Bunker Trilogy: Agamemnon. 10/10
