From Politico PERRY TAKING OBAMACARE CASH FOR ELDERLY, DISABLED PROGRAM — Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s wants to rip Obamacare from the law books, shred it, burn it and destroy the “monstrosity” he says it is. So it was bewildering for some advocates to see him quietly accept millions of dollars in Obamacare funding to help transform his state’s long-term care programs for the elderly and disabled. The Perry administration is preparing a formal application to capture funds from the so-called Community First Choice program — an Obamacare-created optional plan to help states deliver better quality services in the community for long-term care patients. -- Perry’s aides said the governor was just being consistent: He’s always supported programs that boost community care for the elderly and disabled. “Long before Obamacare was forced on the American people, Texas was implementing policies to provide those with intellectual disabilities more community options to enable them to live more independent lives, at a lower cost to taxpayers,” said a Perry spokesman.
