From Ron Friedman at 5:15 a.m. - ALL SYOSSET SCHOOLS AND OFFICES - TopicsExpress

From Ron Friedman at 5:15 a.m. - ALL SYOSSET SCHOOLS AND OFFICES ARE CLOSED TODAY DUE TO THE STORM. Its been quite a winter so far . . . and today is no exception to the pattern of snow that has established itself in the past month. The Winter Storm Warning now in effect, which was posted around 9 p.m. last night by the National Weather Service, states it will snow heavily on and off all day, ending around 7 p.m. While we probably could get to school safely in the morning, it looks like it will be a total mess by afternoon. The last thing I want is a repeat of the situation two weeks ago Tuesday, when buses were delayed two, three or more hours at dismissal time. And the Winter Storm Warning states travel will be dangerous - dont travel. All superintendents in our area have likewise decided to close for obvious safety reasons, and I suspect most districts, by 6 a.m., will make the same decision. Its just, at best, not going to be safe, and at worst, could be downright dangerous later today, and its not worth risking our kids and staff members life and limb. IMPORTANT - keep an eye on the news and weather for tomorrow (Tuesday) night into Wednesday - theres another storm on the way. Not sure yet if itll be bad - but its got to be watched. Yikes! I cant wait for April :). RLF
