From a member: Tell me something. I am the fiancee of a combat veteran with TBI and PTSD. We met post military. So I fell in love with ALL of him. But the long I am with him, the more I realize how much I do not understand how truly deep the mental and physical wounds go. Sometimes I am not always as supportive as I would to be but that is because I cannot always handle the turbulent emotions. I sometimes feel I have already failed as a Wife and I havent even married him yet. I love this man so much. He is so good to me, he loves me, and I know I am his rock. I just wish I could better empathize and know what to do/say to soothe the anger/anxiety/suspicion/stress/fear/etc. I believe in my soldier so much. I do not think he is damaged. I think he went through something traumatic in order to protect every single one of us. He is a hero, despite many people only seeing the negative side of him and not realizing all the good. But its not about that, it is about respecting a soldier who fought valiantly for his country.
