From the Pastors Desk Rev. Greg Ambrose C. Roasa January 25, 2015 El Shaddai Exodus 6:3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. Question: Why do we need to know God as El Shaddai – the Almighty God? Abram called on the name of the LORD Read Gen 12:6-8; 13:3-4 1. We need to submit to the timing of El Shaddai – God Almighty. Question: Is my faith getting stronger the longer I wait? Suggestion of Abram -Eliezer of Damascus (Read Gen 15:2-4) Suggestion of Sarai - 10 years of waiting (Read Gen 16:1-3) Suggestion of Abraham regarding Ishmael Read Gen 17:17-20 After 24 years of waiting: El Shaddai – God Almighty Read: Gen 17:1-2 By this time next year – Read Gen 17:21 and Rom 4:18-22 Abram believed the LORD - Read Gen 15:3-6; Rom 4:18 Hope in God alone, His timing is perfect Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Reflection Abram practiced calling on the name of the LORD. He grew in his knowledge of who God is in his faith journey. (El Elyon – El Roi – El Shaddai) He made several “mistakes” seen in his suggestion of Eliezer and suggestion of Ishmael but it could be his expression of hope in the promise of God. El Shaddai – God Almighty knew the best timing when the promise will be fulfilled. El Shaddai – God Almighty knows the best timing for His promise to you. El – God Might, power, omnipotence Connected with creation All might and all power Shaddai – AlmightyI know God “El Roi” sees me even if I run away.
