From the official Occupy Los Angeles page This page has been getting a lot of demands for postings recently. Please understand, Occupy Los Angeles, no longer exists as an organization, and the few people who have access to this page, do not have consent to post things that did not fall under former consent by OLA. We have chosen to mostly refrain from posting on this page, as with personal attacks, and other pages claiming to be Occupy Los Angeles popping up, we wanted to make it clear, that we no longer exist as any form of organization, therefore are not continuing to post as if it is still active. On February 26th 2014 the OLA Resources Comittee officially disolved OLA as an entity, and has donated the remaining funds to other orgs., except for a small amount which will be used to hold one last party TBA in the near future. Here is the official announcement. Thank you all for your donations, time, and efforts! See you at the barricaides! youtube/watch?v=JAmtIzOVSKY&list=UUtjOc8iu-VSQgo1Yb4NjVoQ&feature=share Then on March 5th, we had a clarification for those who said it was not consented upon: Re: last weeks dissolution announcement, the resources committee would like to clarify we have always had a process for dealing with emergency financial proposals. This provision was consented to by the Los Angeles General Assembly when the committee was first created during pre-occupation assemblies. Although what constitutes an emergency was never clarified by the GA, the resources committee has always tried to hold ourselves to a rigid set of ethics about invoking it. In practice, invoking an emergency to bypass the $50 maximum out-of-GA financial expense provision has occurred less than 5 times since September 2011, and previous to last weeks announcement all but one of them occurred during the occupation at city hall. Most were related to food shortages or sanitation problems. The only non-occupation related emergency was invoked in Feb 2012 in order to help comrades get home from Oakland after the police attacked a peaceful protest. We did not take our decision to dissolve the resources committee and donate all remaining funds to various LA organizations lightly. This was a decision that made after countless discussions with long-time OLA comrades throughout 2013 and into this year. It was invoked because we believe that the substantial issues related to legitimacy and safety at GA are intractable. It was made with love and respect for OLAs accomplishments. Finally, despite any rumor-mongering to the contrary, it was made in-process. We kept it real to the end. We hope to see you at the party--details coming soon. Thanks for understanding why we no longer post, and why we cannot share your events, or other postings, which we NEVER have done in the past, anyway, this page was only consented materials and information posted by the guidlines approved by the Los Angeles General Assembly.
