GANJIFA or GANJAPPA CARD (sets) One of the legacies of Mughal India, Ganjiffa, called Ganjappa cards in Orissa, are hand painted playing cards made of cloth-pasted circle held in place by tammarind glue. Ganjiffa (it is only in Orissa it is called ganjappa) began between th 8th - 12th century AD in Mallabhum (now Bankura in West Bengal). Today, Orissa is the only living center for traditional playing cards where ganjappa is played for recreation, though here too it is on decline.
