GEOGRAPHY .....3.. SOLAR SYSTEM... The Solar System is the Sun and the objects directly or indirectly orbit the Sun. These are a planetary system ( eight planets) and various secondary bodies: asteroids(planetoids) ,dwarf planets, comets ,plutoids ,satellites (moons) and meteoroids. The Solar System was formed 5 billion years ago . The vast majority of the systems mass is in the Sun, with most of the remaining mass contained in Jupiter(largest planet of solar system). The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is almost perfectly spherical and consists of hot plasma interwoven with magnetic fields. It accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System.Chemically, about three quarters of the Suns mass consists of hydrogen, while the rest is mostly helium. The mean distance of the Sun from the Earth is approximately 1 astronomical unit (150,000,000 km). The solar interior is not directly observable as Sun itself is opaque to electromagnetic radiation. The Core of the Sun is the hottest part of the Sun and of the Solar System. The core produces almost all of the Suns heat via fusion, the rest of the star is heated by the outward transfer of heat from the core. The Radiation Zone or radiative zone is a layer of a sun above core where energy is primarily transported toward the exterior by means of radiative diffusion.Energy travels through the radiation zone in the form of electromagnetic radiation as photons. The Convection Zone of sun is above radiative zone in which energy is transported primarily by convection. Solar convection consists of mass movement of plasma within the sun which usually forms a circular convection current with the heated plasma ascending and the cooled plasma descending. The Photosphere of sun is stars outer shell from which light is radiated. The visible surface of the Sun, the photosphere, is the layer below which the Sun becomes opaque to visible light. The parts of the Sun above the photosphere are referred to collectively as the solar atmosphere.Solar atmosphere mainly consist Chromosphere, and Corona.
