“GOD ISN’T DIFFICULT And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:11) One attribute of our heavenly Father that many tend to overlook is His simplicity. Yes, He’s all-powerful, He’s awesome; He’s wonderful, but yet very simple. Religious people try to make Him appear difficult and unreachable. In the Old Testament, they kept Him between burning candles, behind the veil. Religious Christianity portrays Him as a stern warrior, an unapproachable “consuming fire.” But that’s not the kind of God He is. He’s loving, gracious and compassionate. The Bible tells us how on a certain day, three angels, in the form of men, came walking by, trying to get Abraham’s attention. Abraham then called out to the three men, who turned out to be two angels and the Lord. “Himself. He said, “...My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant. Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said” (Genesis 18:3-5). Genesis 18:8 tells us that Abraham then “took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.” Consider the implication of this encounter closely. The Almighty God sat down with two angels and Abraham, His creatures, under a tree and ate. The God of Heaven ate of man’s food. After eating, He said to Abraham, “…I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son….” (Genesis 18:10). This clearly shows the kind of God He is; He’s just so simple to relate to and fellowship with “Let this consciousness of the Father’s simplicity guide your relationship with Him. He loves you and delights to fellowship with you. Take advantage of His simplicity in your prayer life to build a rich fellowship with Him.
