GOOD ON YOU LUKE.... A message from Hon Luke Hartsuyker MP Assistant Minister for Employment ENDING WELFARE DEPENDENCY & GETTING MORE REGIONAL AUSTRALIANS INTO WORK The Coalition Government is focused on getting more Australians into work. Greater workforce participation is good for our economy, good for our local communities, and good for individuals, especially in rural and regional Australia. In addition to cleaning up Labor’s mess and getting the budget back under control, the Coalition Government has introduced a range of practical new programmes to help job seekers move from welfare to work sooner. Im pleased to announce these programmes will be rolled out from tomorrow. The Job Commitment Bonus will provide a cash incentive of up to $6500 for young long-term unemployed job seekers who get and keep a job for at least two years. The Restart Wage Subsidy will provide up to $10,000 to employers to help more than 30,000 mature-age workers get back into the workforce each year. Relocation Assistance to Take Up a Job will help long-term unemployed job seekers with the costs of moving to start a new job. Job seekers with a family who relocate to take up a job in regional Australia may be eligible for up to $9000 to help with the costs of moving. Young regional apprentices will be able to access up to $20,000 in Trade Support Loans to assist them with the costs of getting their qualifications. And the revamped Work for the Dole programme will help job seekers demonstrate the skills and attitudes employers are looking for, while they give back to the community that supports them. We cannot stand by and allow more and more regional Australians to drift into welfare dependency, which is why we are working to create new opportunities and get more Australians into work.
