GRAMBLING RAMBLING: ITS FESTIVAL TIME! Yes, its festival time - TopicsExpress

GRAMBLING RAMBLING: ITS FESTIVAL TIME! Yes, its festival time again in North Louisiana! Grambling kicked off the season with Greater Grambling Gospel Music Workshop followed by the Juneteenth Festival. Both events included good information, food, fun, fellowship, and music. Wonderful! Last weekend Shreveport hosted the “Let the Good Times Roll Festival” downtown, and this weekend Ruston hosts the Peach Festival. Fantastic! Then shortly, not necessarily in this order, we have the Chicken Festival and the Watermelon Festival, followed by another festival in Monroe (I forgot the name!) the Red River Revel in Shreveport and the fairly new Meat Pie Festival in Natchitoches. Next, there will be a series of smaller festivals in nearby towns, taking us back to Natchitoches to the Christmas Festival! One thing I loved about living in New Orleans was the number of festivals they had there. Every weekend there was always something going on in one of the parks or in the Quarter. Festivals are a great way to learn about other people and other cultures. For example, I was amazed when I attended the festival (I think it was Italian) where people made these elaborate cakes and placed them out in the square for celebration. I had never seen so many cakes in my life! And the good thing about festivals is that you can gauge your activities to your budget and your time. You can enjoy festivities alone, with a date, or with a group of friends or colleagues from school, church, work, or community! Perfect! You can get some exercise in by walking and/or dancing out in the fresh air or you can sit out on a bench or step and just look at people. I love it! As I said, Grambling, this weekend it is the Peach Festival in Ruston. Enjoy!
