GREG. & SALLY GARDEN. CAFE STORY You may be wondering who Greg and Sally are. Im Sally, I m a 97 year old stalwart free thinker. I used to be a chemist mixing stuff for the military but my real passion is whipping up a good meal for the family. Greg, whom I met after the Second World War is my soulmate. He was once a Colonel handling intelligence and communications for the army. Col Greg as they called him, was a morse code expert but he had a more amazing green thumb masterfully turning barren lands into verdant gardens. Greg has long moved on. He left us not only with many cherished memories but also a garden rich with assorted trees and an uncountable array of other plants. It is in this lush garden where I built my coffee shop. a quaint and rustic cafe on an urban hill in Marikina Heights, tucked between Marist and St. Scholastica. As opposed to other cafés its quiet, peaceful, relaxing and refreshing. In 3 years Ill be a hundred but people guessing my age usually fall short by at least 20 years. I credit that to a healthy lifestyle and living in my garden is a large part of that. I think the real secret in aging gracefully is good food, a jovial outlook and lots of fresh air. This is what prompted me to share my garden and my cafe. The food we offer comes mainly from our home meals-- comfort food as my grandchildren calls it. Its the food we usually enjoy together-- distinctly tasteful, organic and delightfully satisfying. The herbs come fresh from our garden and some of our specialties come from menus handed over generations. Frantic is what I call people I normally see in downtown cafés-- usually rushed and stressed-out. I would rather sip my coffee or tea in a placid place surrounded by greenery while watching butterflies skim flowers or listening to a bird sing on a nearby tree. It gives me pause from a hurried life and inspires me to be more appreciative of Gods creation. I would like to think of my coffee shop as a refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life without the need to travel far to the countryside just to feel the rural air. If you want something different and relaxing, whimsical even, come and visit my coffee shop. I can probably even serve you a refreshing drink to invigorate your sagging spirit or a healing herb to make your body a little better. This is one place where you can connect closer with nature, where stress dissipates and your body literally energized by fresh oxygen bursting freely from the surrounding vegetation.
