Gallery 9 Featured Artists, August 2 Marie Delaney and Roberto Costa “Treasures of the Sea” Painter, writer, musician and illustrator Marie Delaney, together with jeweler Roberto Costa, are the Gallery 9 featured artists for August. Their work for this show reflects their love of the forms and colors of the sea. Marie will be displaying her new paintings, “Theatre of the Sea,” alongside original art from her children’s activity book Salty & the Pirates. Perception and levels of consciousness are interwoven throughout Marie’s colorful oil paintings. Fresh off the easel, her latest series of paintings differ from traditional seascapes as she rides the tension wave between real and surreal and lets the paint express the essence of her vision. Her images draw the viewer in and invite them to explore more deeply. The layered painting are created in oil paint and the process includes glazing techniques and various oil-based mediums. Roberto will feature new hand-formed silver jewelry with blue and green stones, such as aquamarine, blue topaz, peridot, plus moonstones and pearls, taking inspiration from water, tides, and moon cycles. All of his pieces are crafted using only pure silver and his own very original techniques. Each setting, clasp, hook, and post, is carefully made by hand.
