Gamla EU ledare vädrar sitt Israelhat Gamla ledare från EU området (bl.a.Javier Solana och Angel Moratinos) har uppmanat Catherine Ashton, ansvarig för EU:s utrikespolitik, att hålla fast vid de nyligen publicerade reglerna för samarbete med Israel (dvs bojkott av de omstridda områden i Judéen och Samarien). Reglerna erkänner inte Israels rätt till områden som "ockuperades" 1967 och förbjuder samarbete med dessa områden. Områdena specificeras som Golan, Gazaremsan, Västbanken inklusive östra Jerusalem. Det verkar ha undgått EU att Gaza inte längre ockuperas av Israel. EU reglerna säger också att EU inte erkänner några förändringar av gränserna före 1967. Det är helt obegripligt att EU talar om1967 års gränser trots att något sådant inte existerar. Det man syftar på är vapenstilleståndslinjen från 1949 och i vapenstilleståndsavtalet sägs det klart och tydligt att linjen inte skall ha något att göra med en eventuell framtida gränsdragning. Se också: EU visar sitt rätta ansikte Former European leaders call on EU to enforce ban on Israeli settlements (Jerusalem Post) "...Responding angrily to the letter, European Jewish Congress President Dr. Moshe Kantor on Monday called it "a danger to peace as it hands one side a political victory without having to compromise and deepens the Palestinian feeling that they can gain more outside of negotiations than in them.” In a full-page advert in Monday’s Financial Times, Kantor said the letter was discriminatory, and would ultimately harm the success of peace efforts currently underway for the first time in three years. “From the well over one hundred territorial disputes in the world, the European Union has mandated the creation of a clause in every agreement denying European funding to, and cooperation with, institutions from only one nation involved in a territorial dispute: Israel,” Kantor wrote. “What makes the situation far worse is that the European Union is abrogating agreements that it signed and witnessed,” he said.
