Gang As you know, I was born in Venezuela. There is hardly any food and medicines since the government stopped providing dollars to local importers which has stopped all flow of food and most needed items (Venezuela imports most of its food and medications). It is the third largest oil exporter to the US and has the largest oil reserves in the world. But no country has offered to help. Fidel Castros forces have taken over as our corrupted government allows them in exchange of arms and power over the people. I am very concerned about all people there that are sick in particular all HIV+ people there since they will not have access to medications soon. If anyone has any unused Atripla, Complera, Stribld, etc that you can mail to the address below, that can save a life. Please read this letter. AID4AIDS.org sends medications to Venezuela but they are completely maxed out. This is an email I just received from a friend: Dear Nelson: The reason I write this letter is out of desperation and worrying about the current health of my mother. She currently has HIV. I live in Caracas, Venezuela, and as a lot of you may know, my country is going through a hard time politically and socially. We are going through a great deal of scarcity in basic goods such as food, personal hygiene articles and medicines. My mom and my dad were diagnosed with the HIV virus in 1993. Unfortunately my dad died of aids in 1996. On the bright side my mom has being undetectable since she started treatment and she lives a very normal life. As i stated before, here in Venezuela we go through a great deal of trouble and desperation to find the medicines not only HIV people need, but people with other diseases such as cancer and diabetes. They all have difficulties finding them as well. As of right now is no secret that my country is somewhat in the middle of a civil war; to my perception we are well under way to a dictatorship such as Cuba, and theres no way possible for a person like my mom to live a normal life like the one shes been living all these years without the help of the medicines she needs. I need help because my mom normally buys what she needs in a quantity that will last her for about four months, out of precaution for when something like this happens; however, its getting more difficult by the day to find what she needs and today she has about 25 days of treatment left. We have looked everywhere but with no luck of finding what she needs to keep living her normal life. I need your help in any way you can! She is currently taking Atripla (efavirenz 600 mg, 200 mg emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg, all in one tablet) once a day right before she goes to sleep. To not continue the treatment could be life threatening and as you may understand this is a very hard situation as a son to see my mother be at risk of losing her life. I would really appreciate your help in finding her treatment so she can continue her normal life, like the one she has been leading all along. I will forever be grateful, Sincerely yours, Hector Perez If you can send donated Atripla to help my mom, please mail it to this address. I will be flying to USA in two weeks: 412 East Hall St. Savannah, GA 31401 What is happening in Venezuela: https://youtube/watch?v=A_Wz8yiVkcM#t=183
