Gaza Crew is a hip hop group which was formed in 2005 by Sinethemba Shaun Ndzotyana(ShizoMaan),Zukisa Ncamani (Small)and Mava Stemele (Mavelous). These members were born here in Eastern Cape but in different places yet moved to Scenery Park and formed a crew name Gaza Crew. In 2005 thats when they gathered together and started to write and performing songs they wrote In 2008 they introduced Hip hop to Scenery Park and blew the house a blaze with the help of Unathi Mashinini,T Money and people of Gaza Street who believed in them. The three members started to sell their CD’s in the streets, surrounding townships and in East London as a whole. In 2009 Gaza Crew released Masibambaneni, An Album which led them to national recognition with an opportunity to appear on national television. SABC 1 showcased a documentary about the young entrepreneurs. The documentary was a success and made people of Scenery Park proud. In 2010 Gaza Crew faced a lot challenges and hurdles as member Mava Stemele parted ways with the group due to religious beliefs Unathi Mashinini stopped producing for Gaza Crew and formed Cream Fresh with T money. Gaza Crew was decreased to two members who were forced to make their own music from conception to final implementation. Success was eminent as the remaining members in 2012 rereleased a mix tape called Two Fulls and a Crack. The mix tape was not sold on the streets because of vulgar language. Later that year they started to recording new songs with Khayalethu Mevana AKA Khastrolitto After being quiet for 3 years they finally managed to pull out mix tape which is going to be released at the end of May titled ‘’Till Underground do us apart” with renowned hits track like “Thanda Wena” which they have performed alongside songstress and SATMA Award Winner & Metro FM Award Winner BERITA. The crew have been influenced by the social ills that surround them and have been inspired to be the change they want to see in the community. Being exposed to high levels of crime, high rate of unemployment and illiteracy levels in their community the crew has used the negatives to their advantage by making music that serves as awareness to the up and coming youth with messages like “crime does not pay”, “education is the key to success” just to name a couple
