Geez, its not often youre happy to start paying camping fees, but in this instance were stoked! Nine Mile Beach at Belmont is one of the last remaining places you can camp right down on the beach. Up until now it has largely been unpoliced - and as a result is full of morons riding unregod quad bikes and motocrossers, and constantly is left full of rubbish. Local 4WDers got together to clean the beach after it was left filthy by grubs across the holiday period. Today comes news of a new permit system, designed to fund a full-time ranger to start properly policing the beach. This is definitely one permit were absolutely behind if it helps to promote sustainable access to the beach.
