Genocide of the Kurds (1918 - 2014) After World War I, the British and French Imperialists decided to carve Kurdistan up in 4 parts. Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran would each be awarded with one part of what supposed to be an independent Kurdish state. This was done in 1920. The Kurds have been fighting for their homeland ever since. The Turkish, Iraq, Syrian, and Iranian governments have done everything within their power to silence the Kurds will for self determination and human rights. They have committed massacres and genocides against the Kurds for almost 100 years. Millions of Kurds have been murdered by these nations, tens of thousands of Kurdish villages destroyed. They have emptied Kurdistan from its natural resources, and destroyed Kurdistans wildlife and nature. The world turned a blind eye on what was happening in Kurdistan. The world didnt care. After all, Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran were their allies. Who cares about babies choking to death in the arms of their dying parents, or women being raped and stabbed to death, or the elderly being buried alive, if you have allies like Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran? Apparently, nobody. 1925: Amed (Diyarbakir, the historical capital of Greater Kurdistan). Casualties: 70,000 to 250,000 Kurdish civilians murdered. Perpetrators: Turkey, Turks, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk 1930: Zilan Massacre Casualties: 47,000 Kurdish civilians murdered. Perpetrators: Turkey, Turks, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk 1937-1938: Dersim Massacre Casualties: 70,000 Kurdish civilians murdered. Perpetrators: Turkey, Turks, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk 1979: East-Kurdistan (Iranian Kurdistan) Casualties: 10,000 Kurdish civilians executed. Perpetrators: Islamic Republic of Iran, Persians. 1986-1989: Al-Anfal Campaign Casualties: 182,000 Kurdish civilians buried alive. Perpetrators: Iraq, Arabs, Saddam Hussein. March 16, 1988: Poison Gas Attack on Halabja Casualties: 5,000 Kurdish civilians gassed to death.
