“Give and it shall be given to you.” World Priest Day was - TopicsExpress

“Give and it shall be given to you.” World Priest Day was June 7, 2013; and as many of you knows, my ministry within the Church is praying for vocation to the priesthood and religious life and a holy and saintly perseverance of those already ordained. I spent several weeks preparing for World Priest Day (WPD), making cards, I wrote a special poem, added a personal note that included thanking them for “being a priest” and assuring them of my continual prayers. I sent out about 40 cards including those in my parish and as far Boston, Rome, and even the Philippines. June 8, when I went to the ordination for my diocese I had a chance to meet Bishop Kevin Vann and handed him a card. I also went on Facebook and sent a personal message to about 50 priests and 3 bishops. I was joyfully surprised that I heard back from many of the priests, and two of the bishops. Bishop Kevin Vann wrote me a personal note thanking me for the card, included a few words about our conversation and said, “It was a pleasure to meet you.” Ok, I am flying high and very touched. I sincerely appreciate every priest that responded, and although it was not my intention to have him write back, it was such a blessing to me. Next year, I hope to inform more people about World Priests Day, double the number of priests to thank, and you never know, I might hand-deliver one to Pope Frances. Oh happy day! Ministry can be so fun!
