Goa Tourism issue guidelines ahead of tourism season Ahead of the upcoming tourism season, the Goa Tourism Department has framed new guidelines in order to issue permissions for tourism related events and bringing all such events organised in private or public properties outside licensed premises under the purview of “single window” permissions. The aim is to simplify and encourage people to organize events all through the year. This will also encourage transparency while granting such permissions, said Minister for Tourism Dilip Parulekar in Panaji on Thursday. The issue of cumbersome and non-transparent procedures for clearing tourism-related events had come to the fore during the last tourist season when a Russian mega music event had to be hastily cancelled as government dilly dallied under pressure from its local legislator. The Department shall be the authority to grant permissions to tourism related events like beach weddings, handicrafts, night bazaars, music festivals, cultural events, MICE events, and other tourism related festivals. All the applications of major events will be placed before the State Level Permissions Committee (SLPC), which may evolve its procedures/standards/forms and make a recommendation to the State Government for decision. The SLPC will also study the proposal in detail for organising any major event from the point of environmental concerns, sound pollution, garbage management, CRZ violations, traffic movement, safety and security and sanitary arrangements.
