God has quite the way of requesting your assistance sometimes: on my way home from work on the interstate today I was finally accelerating out of slowed traffic when all of a sudden I got "Bump drafted"...(literally!!) By an old chevy lumina(How appropriate:-) I pull off to the side of the road to take a peak at the damage then quckly notice smoke pouring out of the hood of the car that gave me the little love tap. The woman, very distressed apologized & told me she was just in a panicked rush because there was something wrong with her car. I told her pop the hood ( basically so I could scratch my head and stare at it blankly because I am NO mechanic). As it turned out...she had put oil in the car this morning and did not put the cap back on. Oil was essentially spraying the engine and burning, and she had a disconnected vacuum hose. I reconnected the hose and searched around & believe it or not FOUND her oil cap wedged down around the engine. Her oil was low but still readable on the stick and she was a bit afraid to get in a vehicle with a stranger so I hard her get in front of me and I followed to the next exit to the gas station to top off the oil. The car was in much better running shape as I left out of there with no police report, no insurance or number exchange. Just a good luck and God Bless. The way I have it figured is, I guess my old truck bumper just gained a little bit of character today....and perhaps, so did I. :-)
