Godliness is profitable, far more profitable than many people realize or understand. People usually think of profit and progress only in terms of money, possessions, position and the power and privileges that these confer. These things may be important in life, but they are certainly not the ultimate. Those who think otherwise are deceived and grossly deficient in knowledge and depth of understanding. Life does not consist in the abundance of material possessions, but in quiet confidence in the almighty, invisible and ever-living God. When God is in your boat, it will never sink, regardless of the storms and tempests and contrary winds of earthly existence. That’s the point. Fruitfulness and fulfilment derive from a right attitude of the mind, which enables someone to distinguish between good and evil; between what is base and what is divine; between what is temporal and what is eternal; between what is truly profitable and what is not. To make meaningful, measurable progress is to avoid the many meaningless distractions that seek to lure a man away from the path of good judgement into trading away your destiny or divine inheritance for a mess of porridge. Focus your attention on what truly counts in this life: how best to please God in all your ways. When a man’s way pleases Him, God makes all grace abound towards him such that he will have sufficiency in all things. Even his enemies will be at peace with him. No good thing will be withheld from the man who fears the Lord and has found favour in His sight. God will make him fruitful both at home and in the field; and his testimony will be that of an over comer. God normally makes “a feast of fat things” for His people, fat things richly garnished and spiced with: PEACE, JOY, MERCY, GRACE, FAVOUR, BEAUTY, BOLDNESS, CONFIDENT ASSURANCE, SUFFICIENT PROVISION, STEADY PROMOTION, PROTECTION AND CONTINUAL VICTORY IN THE BATTLES AND CHALLENGES OF LIFE; GOD GIVES HIS PEOPLE REST ON EVERY SIDE.
