Going to say something rather controversial, (No! KrisAnne being controversial? Never happens ;-) ) Someone said to me that my teaching conflicted with another very popular teacher of the Constitution who said Muslims dont have 1st Amendment Rights in this country. Let me be very clear on this... If Muslim citizens dont have 1st Amendment rights, then neither do you. Just remember that. Our framers will agree. John Leland said we are making a place where all could be equally free, Jews, Turks, Pagans, and Christians. Thomas Paine said, For myself, I fully and conscientiously believe that it is the will of the Almighty that there should be a diversity of religious opinions among us. It affords a larger field for our Christian kindness; We either believe We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, or we do not. What someone else believes or practices DOES NOT CHANGE what I believe if what I believe is TRUTH. When we start limiting Liberty, it wont be long before our Liberty is limited. Power changes, majorities change, control changes. Never make a rule that you wouldnt want enforced on you. You might be the majority in charge today, but wait a while, history proves that will change. You must be willing to put #LibertyFirst or accept the chains when the come to bind you and your children. A little hard truth. But truth nonetheless. Choose you this day where you stand and what you believe. It will dictate your future.
