Gone in 30 minutes .... Police investigating a hit-run crash in Royston Park this morning discovered the vehicle involved had been purchased less than 30 minutes earlier - and it has now been impounded for 28 days. Officers were called to Third Ave, Royston Park about 11.40am after a Nissan Skyline sedan hit and tree and then left the scene. Police allege that tyre marks on the road indicated the vehicle was being misused by the driver prior to losing control and colliding with the tree. A check on the registered owner’s details took the officers to a nearby address where they found the car had been sold less than 30 minutes prior and they obtained a second address from the transfer-of-sale notice. At another nearby address police located the suspect vehicle and the new owner. They impounded the car for 28 days and a 17-year-old male from Joslin was reported for misuse of a motor vehicle and driving without due care.
