Good Evening! Tonights message tells the story of an emergency - TopicsExpress

Good Evening! Tonights message tells the story of an emergency rescue that WIL responded to only 8 days ago. It was a Friday night. The admins had settled in at their homes for the night with the exception of Patrick Desjardins who was teaching a scuba diving lesson. In the welcome on Friday the 8th of August Lori B. joined the WIL group. Shortly after Lori made a post asking for assistance for the 24, a group of 24 dachshunds that were being rescued from a hoarding situation where they were all living in one trailer and had never been vetted. Midwest Dachshunds Rescue (MWDR) would be transporting the doxies to their location, vetting, fostering and adopting. The admin team replied to Lori and started making plans. Patrick arrived home well after midnight to find the WIL admins were still discussing the situation and presented their idea. He had but one concern and that was our commitment to the on going campaign with PIP. It was agreed that the emergency fast track of blankets and belly bands would be handled by the admins along with a few select WIL members. That was decided well after 1:30 am. Early the next morning contact was made with Lori vie phone and all details were worked out. Patrick left that conversation with the statement that when WIL finishes with some other commitments we WILL return and stock up your adopter baskets. Contact with Carrie Hull went as always. She stepped right up and had her 15 belly bands in the mail THAT VERY day. In less than 18 hours the first box was in the mail. Next contact made by Patrick was Jan Conradi. For every favor and special project that Patrick has contacted her about, Jan has always replied the same way: Jan I need a favor? YES? Explain, reply When do you need it by? The admin team started work early that Saturday morning making blankets and belly bands. Polly Woo took over all WIL page roles freeing the rest of the group to sew. Her watch over everything on the WIL Facebook page made the rest possible. Polly spoke with Jacqueline Towell who lives in England - as in the United Kingdom! WIL be getting a box from the UK with Jacquelines blanket! Linda Boudreaux volunteered. to make the remaining belly bands. For two days straight she did a crash course on belly bands. I think there were a few #$$%^ %^%$# mixed in but she stopped just long enough to run to the store for supplies, and to eat. Jo Swafford started making 10 blankets and nary a word was heard in the chat room for hours and hours until she posted a pic. Done!!! Hearts, tags and all! I went through my fleece stash (see, your stash does come in handy at times! Its vital!) and sweet talked Pinkie into overdrive, wearing Poor Pinkies needle out along the way. Pinkie produced 10 more blankets for the cause. Tagged, forms completed, done! In one weekend this little group had made over 30 blankets and 32 Belly bands. every last box was shipped no later than Wednesday. The campaign for PIP was never disturbed. MWDR is happy and most importantly there are the 24 that WIL now all have a blanket to burrow in and we all know Doxies love to burrow! (Sung to the tune of Ghostbusters) Who you gonna call? Wrapped In Love!
