Good Monday morning. Clouds and some showers showing up this - TopicsExpress

Good Monday morning. Clouds and some showers showing up this morning across the state with the showers primarily in the northern sections. If you look at the radar it looks like the rain is widespread but surface reports indicate its not as widespread as it looks and is light. A frontal system is responsible for the scattered rain as it moves into the state this morning. This front will stall out and eventually move back to the north as a warm front. Temps this afternoon will range from the 70s in areas that see clouds and showers to mid 80s in areas that see more sunshine. On Tuesday, with the front moving back to the north, warmer air will move into the state from the south leading to more humid conditions and temps warming to the upper 80s to near 90 in the south to mid 80s in the north. Some light showers may be seen tonight and Tuesday as the warm front moves back north. The rest of the week looks to be warm with another frontal system approaching the state from the NW over the weekend. This front may tap some of the moisture that will move into the SW US as a result of Hurricane Odile which is slamming the Baja California area this morning. In fact, Odile is tied with Hurricane Olivia as the strongest storm to hit the Baja California coast and that took place in 1967 so its been a while. If some of this moisture gets tapped and interacts with the frontal system, there could be some heavy rain amounts late in the weekend but still plenty of time to watch this play out. One week from today is the first day of Autumn (officially) and I know many of you are longing for nice cool days with trees turning brilliant colors. It wont be long now, but I know my lawn was filled with leaves (all brown) letting me know, ill be raking from now until November. Have a great day.
