Good Morning all. I lifted this from an Email. Please get this information to members of our community who may have not accessed it. From Professor Hamadi Boga -Taita Taveta University College I am writing here to appeal for help basically. When we were handed over the Ngerenyi facility to start courses in Agriculture, the Governor offered 10 scholarships for students from Taita Taveta County to pursue Certficate in Agribusiness Programs at the campus (3 Months). The ten students were to be distributed as follows Voi Sub County...2 Taveta Subcounty..2 Wundanyi.....2 Mwatate....2 Ngerenyi Community...2 We had also offered the Ngerenyi Community 2 scholarship to study BSc Horticulture. We have received some names of about 7 for certificate but the challenge is that they fail to meet the minimum qualifications (see below) Certificate in Agri-business- KCSE Mean Grade D+ and Minimum D+ in Biology,Chemistry and Mathematics , Biological Sciences, Physucal sciences and Geography Diploma in Agri-Business- KCSE Mean Grade C- and Minimum C- in Biology, Chemistry,Mathematics, Biological sciences,Physical sciences,Geography or its equivalent I refuse to believe that there are no kids from Taita Taveta county out there who have a mean grade D+, with D+ in Maths, chemistry and biology (for Certificate courses) or C- with C- in chemistry, maths, biology and physics/physical sciences for Diploma Courses. With the hope that each of those in the forum have at least 10 relatives who are looking for a training opportunity, I hope by appealing to the forum. we can get qualified candidates. I refuse to believe that our schools are unable to produce candidates who have the requisite grades in maths, chemistry and physics, but I could be wrong. Please channel any candidates to me [email protected] or or Mwandoe Pongah [email protected]. Agriculture is the only subject which remain relevant forever and agribusiness has mane opportunities for economic empowerment...especially in a country like ours where the manufacturing industry has stubbornly refused to grow due to tragic policies.
