Good morning Fitness fans! How is everyone doing today? Its a bit chilly here in the tri-state area, which means its time for OVERNIGHT PROATS for breakfast! What are overnight proats you ask, besides incredibly delicious? They are overnight oats with added protein. Heres my #recipe: Ingredients: 1/2 cup #glutenfree steel cut oats (Bobs Red Mill) 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 Tbsp almond flour 1 tsp chia seeds 1 tsp flax seeds 1 scoop protein powder (Isopure) 1/4 c fresh berries (I used blackberries) 1/2 tsp cinnamon Directions: *At night, mix together all the ingredients. You can use more or less liquid depending on your preference. Keep in mind, the oats and chia seeds will soak up the liquid. *Store in the fridge overnight. *In the morning, microwave your proats for about two minutes, mix everything together and enjoy! So why not just throw this together in the morning? Whats the logic behind overnight oats? Grains are inherently tough on our digestive system as they are hard to breakdown. Soaking your grains overnight breaks down the grains, making them much more gentle on our stomachs, aiding in easy digestion. Its following the same theory of sprouted grains, which are also amazing for our bodies. Give this recipe a whirl and let me know what you think.
