Good morning friends! My interview went well yesterday, and because I was recommended by a friend, it appears they will make a valiant effort to get me some work. It is in the Lords hands. Have a wonderful day walking with Jesus, and enjoy His presence! Lord, we thank you that you care about our lives, and that you meet and supply our needs. You have done miraculous things in all of our lives, and we pray that we will trust you more and more. Draw us closer to you this day, and we open our hearts to receive your great mercy, grace and love. We love you because you first loved us. Fill us afresh with your Holy Spirit, and shed abroad your great love in our hearts, so that others will see your love and be attracted to you. AMEN! Matthew 11:1-6 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee. When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” John the Baptist had been thrown into prison for speaking out against Herod marrying his brothers wife. John the Baptist spoke out for the truth, and Herodias did not like it, and she was the reason that he was in prison. From this passage it is implied that John the Baptist heard news from the outside world and maybe had visits from his disciples. He heard that Jesus was doing great miracles. He had proclaimed that Jesus was the lamb of God that would take away the sins of the whole world. John the Baptist may have been starting to have doubts, or been expecting Jesus to set up an earthly kingdom, which was what all the Jews were expecting. It is also possible that he was encouraging his followers to check Jesus out for themselves so that they would know the truth and follow Him. Whatever the case, John the Baptist had his followers ask Jesus if He was the Messiah, or should they be looking for another? Jesus told them to go back and report what they saw - that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. John the Baptist knew the scriptures and what Isaiah 61 said - The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lords favor. John the Baptist knew that this was the sign of the Messiah, and Jesus gently reminded the disciples of John not to offended by His not having and earthly kingdom. His kingdom was not of this world. Jesus is still the same today - He comes to us today to bring good news to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to set the captives free, to heal the sick and to proclaim His great favor upon us. Are we in need of a touch from Jesus today? Oh, let us reach out to Jesus today for His healing touch in our bodies, souls and spirits. He wants to restore His people to Himself, and make them whole where they have been broken. Let us run to Jesus in faith, believing Him to do exceeding abundantly more than we can ask or even imagine! Walk with the King today, and be a blessing! I leave you with the hymn, Ive Touched the Hem of His Garment. ( Added a verse of my own ) In faith she touched the hem of His garment As to His side she stole, Amid the crowd that gathered around Him, And straightway she was whole. Refrain: I’ve touched the hem of His garment, And now I, too, am free; His healing pow’r this very hour Gives life and health to me. She came with fear and trembling before Him— She knew her Lord had come; She felt that from Him virtue had healed her, The mighty deed was done. He turned with, “Daughter, be of good comfort, Thy faith hath made thee whole,” And peace which passeth all understanding With gladness filled her soul. Today we still can come to the Master, His promises are true; Reach out and touch the hem of his garment. New life Hell give to you.
