Good morning, heres your forecast for today. A very tricky week of forecasting coming up but we will do our best to keep you updated. UK Forecast – 19th May Synoptic situation: Low pressure centred to the west of Ireland is feeding in warm south-easterly winds across much of the UK today. A cold front lying north to south from western Scotland down through Northern Ireland towards the Isles of Scilly is bringing some rain, whilst some heavy, thundery showers have broken out ahead of this front across Wales with these heading towards the Isle of Man. Today’s outlook: For today outbreaks of rain are likely to continue to affect Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, western parts of Scotland and the Western Isles although this rain will tend to become more showery in nature by this afternoon, but by then the risk of these showers turning heavy and thundery increases. Across much of South West England, North West England and Southern Scotland it is a dry start to the day and some sunny spells are likely throughout today. However across western parts of Wales it is cloudy with some heavy and thundery showers around this morning but these will move away to the north to allow most areas to see some sunny spells developing. For the rest of today further sunny spells are likely in these areas, but the risk of showers will increase during the afternoon. The showers will be hit and miss with some places avoiding them, however, where they do break out there is a chance that they will be thundery in nature. For the rest of England, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight, and Eastern Scotland, Monday will be a mostly dry and warm with good spells of sunshine. There is a risk of the odd isolated thundery shower developing later in the day, however most places in these areas will stay dry. Winds will be mostly light and rather variable in direction, generally come in from the east or southeast. Sea breezes will develop around the coasts, but during this afternoon more of a south-easterly wind will pick up in many places. It will be another warm day for many with temperatures widely high teens or the low twenties, but central and south-eastern parts of England could hit highs of 25°C or 26°C. Once again it will be cooler across Northern Ireland and western Scotland in the range of 15°C to 18°C. Have a good day. Paul
