Good morning photo junkies, A question for you to ponder....how well do you really know your camera and its functions? I owned a Nikon D100 for 7+ years and, even though there were far fewer controls/functions than todays digital cameras, I was learning new things about its functionality until I replaced it. If youre anything like me when you get a new camera you just want to yank it out of the box and start playing. We may thumb through the manual or buy third party books just to see what the basic buttons do but we never really delve into all the bells and whistles it has, thus never really knowing all the cool things our camera can do for us. These days I own Panasonic mirrorless cameras and there is tons of functionality built into them of which I have only tried a small portion. With that in mind, I am embarking on a 30 day challenge and would like to take you all along with me. The project starts Nov. 1 and is called 30 Days to a Better Relationship {with your camera}. The idea behind the challenge is that every day for 30 days you and I will learn something new about our cameras. This means that well have to do some research. It may be reading our camera manual (the horrors), checking out a third party book, doing online searches for review sites (there are tons for every camera brand and model), reading blog posts or just playing around with the cameras menu. Once you learn a new function try it out by taking a few photos using it. You may never use every function that your camera has to offer but if youre serious about taking good photographs then you should know about every bit of functionality available to you in order to achieve that goal. If youre on board, the first thing youll want to do is go over and ask to join the Facebook group that I created for the challenge. This is the place where you can post your daily discoveries as well as examples of photos you took using what you learned. When you post Ill ask that you reference the brand and model of your camera, what you learned as well as the source you used. Not only will you be learning about your camera with your own research you will be learning from other participants as well. So...how about it? Wanna have a better relationship with your camera? Please note...This challenge is open to anyone wanting to learn more about their camera and its functionality, not just MOCA students. https://facebook/groups/399258240232571/
