Gov. Almakura Tasks Traditional Rulers On Peace and Return of Displaced Persons. His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has tasked traditional rulers in Nasarawa state to ensure their role in the society works towards the return of peace to Nasarawa state, as well as the return of the displaced persons. Gov. Almakura made the call during a meeting with the traditional rulers at the Government House Lafia, he said having visited about 80% of the areas that have been affected by recent crisis, where he went to see for himself, yet stating that his visits were not over as he would visit each and every community affected by this crisis. He called on the traditional rulers to always find time to visit all the areas in their domains, as such visits would enable them see for themselves as well as give a sense of hope to the people, informing them that if needed they could always come and request for additional security if they want to go to presumed trouble spots, he also reminding them of the need to show love and care to all the nationalities living with in their domains. He made it known that permanent security arrangement s were being made to ensure that the communities were secure, further stating that they were working on ways to start returning the displaced persons to the communities , stating that food items, building material, relief materials and finances would be provided for the returning communities to assist them. Gov. Almakura briefed them on the need for them to ensure that the people were aware of and participated in the distribution of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and the continuation of the voters registration and made it clear the need for all persons to participate as it would not only enable them vote but could be used as an id card . Lastly, he spoke on the presentation of Staff of Office to some of the Traditional Ruler that has been postponed due to the lingering crisis around the state , stating that after the PVC exercise they would sit and decide on dates for the presentations. He made it known that the rest of the vehicles for the 1st class Chiefs had been received and would be presented to them next week. Speaking to the Press after the meeting , HRH the Andoma of Doma Aliyu Oga , made it known that the Chiefs were calling on the all warring factions, to sheath their swords and let peace reign in the State once again, stating that they had resolved that there should be peace in the state . He further stated their commitment towards ensuring that the PVC exercise is carried out in all possible areas of the state successfully , calling on all to take part in the permanent card distribution and the and continuing voter registration.
