Governor Cuomo has signed a Pet Dealer Law that allows each municipality to make regulations or enact ordinances (laws) regarding Pet Dealers including but not limited to the source of animals offered for sale! Municipalities can also enact guidelines/ordinances that are more strict than state laws to also include spay/neuter before sale and standards of health and safety of animals maintained by the Pet Dealers. You can urge your local muicipality to enact local laws to be proactive in protecting these young, innocent animals.
