Grace folks! Our preparation for worship on Sunday starts now. Bob Kauflin says in his book Worship Matters that... ----------------------------------------------- ...worship isnt primarily about music, techniques, liturgies, songs or methodologies. Its about our hearts. Its about what and who we love more than anything. Jesus said the greatest commandment is this: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37). While its simplistic to say that worship is love, its a fact that what we love most will determine what we genuinely worship. How do I know what I love the most? By looking at my life outside of Sunday morning. What do I enjoy the most? What do I spend most time doing? Where does my mind drift to when I dont have anything to do? What am I passionate about? What do I spend my money on? What makes me angry when I dont get it? What do I feel depressed without? What do I fear losing the most? Our answers to those questions will lead us straight to the God or gods we love and worship... ----------------------------------------------- Where is your heart today now that Sunday is gone? Satans goal today is to get you to worship anything but your God. His lie will be that loving/worshiping God will mean losing out on something - dont Listen. He is the great deceiver. (1 Peter 5:8) - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (Revelation 12:9) - And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (John 10:10) - The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose (Jesus) is to give them a rich and satisfying life. When we place anything else on the throne - we rob ourselves of the rich and satisfying life that Jesus wants to share with us. Keep Him on the throne and take him into all areas of your life this week - enjoy your occupation, hobbies and other interests within this context and they will be more satisfying - or if they are at odds with Jesus, then they will become less satisfying and fulfilling and perhaps be seen as damaging to your walk. Some songs well probably be singing this week: At Your Name, The Love of God, The Great I Am, This is the Air I Breathe - Youtube those songs and spend some time meditating on them this week. Spend some time praying for those who will be leading our service this week, and those who will be attending who dont know Jesus. Have your own worship service now - or make some time this week in preparation for Sunday. Do this, and well see mind-blowing things happen when we get together!
