Greensmith, Lower Marsh, SE1. I didnt have much time but did fancy a coffee. Its mostly a rather well-stocked deli, and their cafe section at the back depends on a counter thats a subsidiary to a checkout. At 10.30am the checkout person was enjoying the lull before a busy lunchtime and having a good natter with a customer before making the effort to leave the desk and come over to serve me. I had an americano which I could tell would be single shot because priced only slightly above a single espresso, and a flapjack. £2.95 altogether. Coffee was good, smooth, just the right size. Flapjack solid but with some lift to it and a slight crunch. Not bad, but maybe they should just concentrate on the deli side. When I went past at lunchtime there was a queue at the checkout and it didnt look like a good idea to be trying to get a coffee, but maybe they have other staff to call on.
