Greetings! This month marks a very important milestone for UMD - 10 years of global Macedonian advocacy. Since we officially launched UMD membership in 2006, we have kept September as membership month, but earlier this year we decided to change membership month to October to coincide with our anniversary date of October 28th. I wanted to share a video we put together on the last ten years of UMD. Please enjoy.... youtu.be/Q5cfLGzYzkY to your support, in just ten years, UMD has become the leading and most effective international non-government organization promoting Macedonia and the interests and needs of Macedonians globally. Thanks to members like you, UMD has been able to bring global Macedonian advocacy to a whole new level, more professional, more vocal, and more influential. Being the first-ever Macedonian organization to open an office in Washington, D.C. just a block from the White House, UMD has collectivized and galvanized efforts representing Macedonian causes, including the pursuit of gaining recognition of Macedonias rightful and constitutional name by countries like Canada, Hungary, and India, accession into Euro-Atlantic institutions, safeguarding Macedonian civil rights, promoting our rich Macedonian culture, and instilling pride in our younger generations. Thanks to the financial support of individuals like you, UMD has organized four successful Global Conferences bringing over 2,000 guests from 26 countries together, helped found the 1st-ever Congressional Caucus on Macedonia, gained staunch support for Macedonias NATO membership by numerous policymakers, held meetings with Heads of State, granted $30,000 in scholarships to Macedonian students, given $35,000 in humanitarian aid to less fortunate in Macedonia, provided $50,000 in cultural promotion of Macedonia, and hosted over 40 students at UMDs office since 2008 for our internship program. We have achieved a lot with the help of supporters and members like you over the last 10 years, but a lot more remains to be done. Our identity as Macedonians, our history, and our right to self-determination are constantly being attacked, and the only way we can persevere is if we stay the course and defend and fight for what is rightfully ours. Thus, UMDs work has never been more important. If you have not seen it yet, you can find our latest call to say no more to the so called name negotiations here. We have been calling for this for a long time, but enough is enough - it is high time for the government of the Republic of Macedonia to also tell the world loud and clear that nobody can and should negotiate over the name of the country and the identity of its citizens! We want to continue making you proud, and ensuring that Macedonians have a voice for years to come. Our work is not done. You and I know this, and we also know that the only way we can continue this important work that we have been doing for the last 10 years is if we continue to have your support.
