Growing up in Baker was the best education. Fueled by the great - TopicsExpress

Growing up in Baker was the best education. Fueled by the great depression and hunger in the city, my grandfather and father understood the importance of self survival. I know it was the same for others. The family gardens, fruit trees, hunting, fishing and following the potato picker in the fall of the year to fill our supply for the winter. Mom was busy canning and preparing and home backed bread, jelly rolls as well as cakes and pies were part of life few enjoy today. Brings me to a song about Dad and all his wisdom that carried us through in a town that was never known for wealth as most were laborers working in the woods, the mills and mines as well as farmers and ranchers. This was Baker! When Dad was around: When Dad was around . . . . Times were so different. Yes, I miss him. https://youtube/watch?v=QA0AWTCuk1Q
