Grrrr. The single worst thing I do that I loathe but cannot refrain from doing is engaging in useless political debate with indoctrinated sheep. No amount of reason, facts, or logic will quench the unconscious tendency of people to rely on what they heard from some random source that some thought they had was EXACTLY right. Religion is like this too for me. I somehow think that debate is supposed to be a tool for both parties to learn something from one another and gain an understanding of the belief system, but it somehow always simply turns into a bout of generalizations and name calling when you disagree. The pattern between the two has intrigued me for as long as I can remember until I FINALLY get it. Politics ARE some peoples religion. They treat the opposing party as evil and disregard even similar ideas as some devil conspiracy to take over the world for satan. They group ideas like laying on hands and tithing but call them social services or taxing. So you have all these little denominations all worshipping the same god (country) but with their own ideas of what party(church) actually accounts as the real party. BAM, new religion. Man made. So now, if you hear me say Im an atheist, you know exactly what I mean.
